Saturday we ventured to the John Day Fossil Beds. Josh has a modest interest in dinosaurs and fossils, so we thought we would give it a shot.

Josh was very excited when we arrived and saw this large fossil at the visitor's center entrance.

The first thing we did was pick out tools to dig up fossils.

The visitor's center had a great hands on area for kids. Josh loved touching the fossils.

Paleontologist Josh Jenkins goes in for a closer look.

We had a picnic lunch at the James Cant ranch. Luke enjoyed the nice weather.

There was a 1 mile hike to see actual fossils in the hillside. Luke was sleeping in the car so Mom stayed behind to protect Luke while Dad and Josh went on the fossil adventure. Josh got to see a turtle fossil up close.
